I was surprised to learn there was another restaurant in Aurora serving Hawaiian/Polynesian cuisine that was not L&L Hawaiian Barbecue. Hey, I'm all for it, let's go! 🍍

Food

Da Mix (BBQ Chicken, Kalua Pig, & Pulehu Steak)

Flavor and Texture - 40/60

I ordered Da Mix which is a combination plate of their BBQ Chicken, Kalua Pig, and Pulehu Steak. This was served with two scoops of rice, slices of pineapple, and macaroni salad. The BBQ Chicken was juicy and tender in some parts, but drier in others. The Kalua Pig had a hint of smoky flavor with a dash of garlic. The pork was shredded and surprisingly not dry which tends to frequent this type of dish.

The Pulehu Steak was the most interesting out of the three. I think it was marinaded in brown sugar and soy sauce which gave it a sweetness I was not expecting. The marinade may have contributed to the tenderness as well, however some pieces were on the chewy-side. The pineapple slices were fresh, and the macaroni salad was solid. Rice was white...until I added soy sauce. 😉

Quality/Skillfulness - 6/10

Some of the meat may have been more tender than others, but I think that comes with the territory.

Value - 6/10

My eyes were bigger than my stomach, so you definitely get a decent sized portion for your money.

Dining Experience

Service and Setting - 3/5

Nothing fancy. Limited indoor seating, with plenty of parking out front.

Presentation - 3/5

Casual fast food in a straightforward carton tray.

Legitimacy or Creativity/Uniqueness - 4/5

Another restaurant serving Hawaiian/Polynesian cuisine!

X-Factor/Memorability - 3/5

A hole-in-the-wall restaurant making a name for itself.

Total - 65/100

3.5 Stars - Worth the stop if you are in Aurora, and want to mix it up. A great entry-level restaurant to experience Hawaiian/Polynesian cuisine.
